I applaud him, a true hero. But you bring up an interesting point that women athletes have been out for decades. It says something about male/female power roles in society, doesn’t it? And also, not to take away from Jason’s coming out publicly, but he is not the first male professional major league athlete to do so. In the 1970s, a then-active major league baseball player named Glenn Burke tried very hard to come out, but the world wasn’t ready for him. Here’s a great article to read from The Atlantic.
