It’s new territiory for her as she has never been with someone of a different race or the same sex before so I think she’d really like “Gifts for Deborah” and its message. I think tenacity and strength are exactly what she needs right now. I’d like to recommend another book that I actually just gave to her as a gift. It’s called “The Children of Gavrilek” by Julie Kirtón Chandler, http://www.juliekirtonchandler.com. She has told me that she loves it so far, so it may be worth checking out.
