Ever since she was a little girl, “Glee’s” Lea Michele has been involved with the LGBT community. Growing up in New York, Michele started working for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS as a child.

“I’ve always been in theater, and so the gay community — that was my world,” she said. “That’s where I come from, and so it just feels like part of who I am. To be where I am right now, and to still have that support and to still have that safety net, it really just means a lot to me.”

Dot-Marie Jones married girlfriend Bridgett Casteen on Saturday (Dec. 21), People confirms. The “Glee” star exchanged vows during a surprise ceremony, which was held at the couple’s Los Angeles home.

According to guests of the event, Jones and Casteen invited friends and family to a holiday party, only to announce that they were going to tie the knot once everyone arrived.

According to People, this will be the 49-year-old Emmy-nominated star’s first marriage and Casteen’s second. Casteen has since changed her surname to Jones on Instagram.

In not-really-shocking-but-still-kind-of-staggering-news, Ryan Murphy has announced that “Glee” will say goodbye after season six. TV Line reports that Murphy spoke openly about his plans to end the series at an FX-honoring event at the Paley Center Wednesday night:

“The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel and Cory/Finn’s story,” he told reporters. “I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was — he was in it. I knew what the last line was — she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now.”

Dot Marie Jones, who plays Coach Shannon Beiste on “Glee,” proposed to her longtime girlfriend Bridgett Casteen on Friday while attending the theme park’s Anaheim Gay Days. In true princess fashion, Jones popped the question near the theme park’s Sleeping Beauty castle.

Jones told The Advocate on Friday, “It’s the happiest day of my life. I never thought I’d find somebody that is so loving and kind.” Casteen and Jones couldn’t help but share their thrilling news with fans.

“Glee” fans were so upset with the breakup between Santana Lopez (Naya Rivera) and Brittany Pierce (Heather Morris) that some have even sent creator Ryan Murphy death threats.

Fans were so heartbroken at the end of the lesbian duo they started to send Murphy death threats. Rivera told Complex magazine she understands why fans found the split so upsetting.

“Having gay characters makes a difference, especially when you are a teenager and you need people to look up to,” Rivera said. “Your world feels so small. The tiniest thing can make you think, ‘I’m gonna die!’ I’m glad Glee is around for people dealing with something that big in such a small world. It’s important.”

Cory Allan Michael Monteith, a Canadian actor best known for playing Finn Hudson on the hit Fox TV show “Glee,” was found dead Saturday in a Vancouver hotel room, The Hollywood Reporter reported. He was 31.

Monteith’s big break came in 2009 when he landed the role of Finn Hudson, a football player-turned glee club singing star on the show “Glee.” The part earned him a legion of fans known as “Gleeks” and a Teen Choice Award in 2011. The show’s cast also won a Screen Actors Guild award for best ensemble in a comedy. Monteith returned for another stint of rehab in March, but appeared to be healthy and in good spirits last month.

You could argue that lesbian actress Jane Lynch has had more memorable roles on TV these last few years than most actors have in a lifetime. Seriously — the woman never stops working! The Huffington Post caught up with Lynch while she was promoting her latest gig, NBC’s new show “Hollywood Game Night” (more on that before next week’s premiere), and she talked about whether or not she was surprised by the “Glee’ casting shake-up and what’s next for Sue Sylvester.

She also dished about the status of the “Party Down” movie and what she thinks her character Constance is up to today. And then, somehow, the topic turned to Charlie Sheen … will she be popping up on “Anger Management” next? Sounds like it.

Brittany S. Pierce is moving on from her breakup with Santana by snogging Sam Evans at her (sacred) locker. The news, while not surprising — “Glee” has been hinting at a Bram hook-up since the season four premiere, and also there’s that photo Ryan Murphy tweeted of them in their wedding duds — is a pretty big blow to the lesbian community.

In an interview with Vulture, “Glee” and “American Horror Story” creator Ryan Murphy admitted there’s one character he feels he missed out on.

“[I wish I had created] Hannah on ‘Girls,'” Murphy said. “That show to me fits the real description of ‘never judge a show by its pilot’—and I’m only basing this on the discussions that have happened in my writers’ rooms, because I loved that show unapologetically from the beginning—but a lot of people in my life were like, ‘I don’t like her, she’s so unsympathetic, she’s so spoiled,’ and now by the tenth episode they’re completely in and will follow her anywhere.”
