Remember those phone conversation scenes in “The L Word” when the characters gossiped to and fro between boxes, a peppy Betty song (probably) playing in the background? That’s how I imagined the lesbian phone tree after last week’s episode of “The Fosters” when Rosie O’Donnell made her grand guest-role debut. I must offer a moment of deep silence, applause or whatever you deem appropriate for celebrating how much gayer the big gay family show we love just got. Creators Peter Paige and Bradley Bredeweg are on a roll — and they aren’t stopping. Now we get to learn even more about the group of misfits at Girls United. Yesterday it was announced a spin-off web series is in the cards — “The Fosters: Girls United.”

**WARNING! Not intended for viewers under 18**

“Breaking Fat” is a new web series — and in the first few moments of the series, there’s an appearance by lesbian favorite, Jill Bennett!

Synopsis provided by “Breaking Fat” YouTube channel:

“Becca (Katherine Vanderlinden), Kibblets (Lindsay Hollister) and Sunshine (Rakafet Abergel) are squatters at Becca’s parents house. Blame the economy. Blame their parenting. Blame the meth addiction. When obtaining the drug becomes increasingly more difficult, every seller assumes they are undercover cops, the girls come up with the brilliant idea to cut out the middle man. Turning to the penny saver, they procure someone to cook the drug for them. Enter a brillant, yet quirky, gentleman who goes by the street name “Hindenburg” (Brian Houtz). As they descend into the jiggly dark underbelly of the drug world, they soon find themselves faced with the hard reality of prison after two hardcore, not by the book, detectives bust their dealings.”

Also Starring:
Sarah Hagan, Hutch Dano, David Krumholtz and Jill Bennett.

Ingrid Jungermann is the creator of “F to 7th,” a homoneurotic web series, and co-creator of “The Slope,” about superficial, homophobic lesbians. Jungermann is a Brooklyn-based writer, director, and producer, and a thesis student at NYU. In a style typically reserved for straight stand-up comics, Jungermann allows herself to discard the preconception that lesbians privilege social issues above comedy. Instead, she interprets her own experiences through a lens of hilarious absurdity, allowing her characters the freedom to make mistakes, and say inappropriate things, rather than using them as bastions of political correctness.

On any given day, the Kardashians seem to rear their entrepreneurial empire into the spotlight time and time again. But there’s one Kardashian who hasn’t taken any cities, and perhaps would love to snag one of Scott Disick’s [Kourtney’s husband] dapper three-piece suit vests. Meet Kam Kardashian: the long lost sister, who’s mysterious hard, outer shell makes her the ninth wonder of the world, and just so happens to be playing for our team. Okay, the gig is up—Kam isn’t really a Kardashian (but one thing’s for sure: She is a lesbian.) Keeping Up With Kam is a web series created and edited by director Ryan Logan, shot by Amanda Clifford, and starring Fawzia Mirza who stars as Kam, one disowned sister with a short, jet black ‘do that looks strikingly similar to Kris Jenner, matriarch of the Kardashian fam.

Scene from "The Okay List" web seriesBY AFTERELLEN

We’re loving “The Okay List,” a new lesbian web series in which two women (Heather Pieske and Sarah Pappalardo) hit on some of our favorite iconic historical figures.

Co-creator Pappalardo told us, “The fun and unique part about this series is that all actors are actually queer and in the New York comedy scene – from a quiet, soft butch Amelia Earhart who drinks by herself to Pocahontas, a waitress, with serious daddy issues. The series is called The Okay List, because in real life Heather and I agreed that only dead lesbians were allowed on our okay list.”

It’s no secret that the economic recession currently has people all over the United States scrambling for jobs. From coast to coast men and women, regardless of gender and sexuality, are finding themselves unemployed when they least expect it. Sometimes, while lost and desperate for money, people turn to the oddest of jobs just to keep the cash coming in. This is the exact reason that ALMA award-winning actor Michelle Bonilla and her friend, fellow actor Matt Crabtree created the hilarious web series, “Failing Upwards.”

“Matt and I wanted to keep creating and we were thinking of any way to do a web series based on all the funny odd jobs that we’ve had as an actor to sustain ourselves,” Bonilla says. “But we can’t stand ourselves as it is, so I said let’s make it about ordinary people, thirty-something’s around our age that get together and fill out unemployment forms every week and then go out and get these odd jobs. So then of course we came up with all these funny ideas and we said that we have to do this and create this series.”
