Billie Myers is a British singer/songwriter and voice over actress who is best known for her 1997 hit song “Kiss the Rain.”

This photo was taken in Los Angeles one sunny day when we had a playful photo shoot outside of a charming little cafe.

I caught Whitney Mixter and Sara Bettencourt from “The Real L Word” at The Dinah in Palm Springs earlier this year. The couple were on fire with their sparkling smiles and super-sexy inked up skin.

Mixter and Bettencourt frolicked at the Riviera, generously and regularly putting their couple time on “pause” to pose with fans for photographs throughout the weekend.

They say if you have a camera in your hands you can get people to do almost anything. In the case of this photo, that adage proved to be true.

I spotted these women on a beach in Puerto Vallarta years ago and they asked if I would take their picture. Though they were fully clothed, I asked them to go into the water and roll around. Without any resistance or hesitation they did and I was able to capture this playful moment between them.

Excedera is the creator of the Pee Zee, a device which allows women to pee while standing up. I love the pee zee.

This photo was taken in San Francisco when she happened to stay with me. She ended up helping me chase down and rescue a puppy mill Yorkie, going to random parties with me and figured out the (not-so-mysterious-yet-interestingly-difficult) way to use pop-its.

Marga Gomez is a native New Yorker who makes San Francisco her home and identifies as a bicoastal Gemini. As the daughter of a Cuban comedian and Puerto Rican dancer Marga made her stage debut in New York at age seven and was hooked ever since. Her long and colorful career includes achievements in comedy, theater, film and television and was profiled in the 2005 documentary “Laughing Matters.”

Marga’s talents have brought her to audiences all over the planet. She has had the fortune to work with some of her heroes including Rita Moreno, Dustin Hoffman, Lily Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg. Robin Williams was so impressed with Marga’s response to a heckler at a benefit that he booked her on HBO’s Comic Relief VI on the spot.

Phranc, the singer/songwriter originally known as Susan Gottlieb, is a self-proclaimed “All-American Jewish lesbian folksinger.” Her career has spanned more than four decades, a period during which she has opened for acts such as The Smiths, Hüsker Dü, Violent Femmes, and Billy Bragg.

Phranc‘s music provided my introduction to the lesbian genre when I was a teenager and for over 20 years I noted seeing her perform live at the top of my “bucket list.” The opportunity to do just that finally arose a few years ago when the singer performed in San Francisco’s Delores Park after the Dyke March.

While I’m not typically the type to call myself a “fan” of any performer, I must admit I sang along to every word of every song Phranc performed that day. I have since checked seeing Phranc perform live off my bucket list after serendipitously heading to Dolores Park and finding myself lens to face with one of my favorite singer-songwriters.

This photo came about as I was having a beer with a couple of friends at San Francisco’s Lexington Club. The bar touts itself as “your friendly neighborhood dyke bar” and the place definitely lived up to its reputation that day.

As my friends and I were talking, other patrons soon joined and it wasn’t long before I broke out my camera and suggested an impromptu photo shoot. After taking care of the pesky details like signatures on “Model Release” forms – yes, I carry them around with me for just such moments – we all stepped outside where I spotted some bright red graffiti painted on the sidewalk. The bar-companion-turned-model straddled the provocative prose and I snapped the shot forever capturing her defiant-yet-disinterested gaze.
