A Colombian councilman is slamming Shakira for promoting “lesbianism” in her new music video.

Marco Fidel Ramirez, a conservative Christian councilman from Bogota, denounced Shakira’s recent music video for “Can’t Remember to Forget You,” which features Rihanna. In the video, the two scantily clad singers caress each other while crooning about a lover who is hard to shake.

The Washington Blade has learned the Transportation Security Administration will allow same-sex couples to undergo pre-flight security screenings together in response to two recent incidents with American Airlines personnel at a Colombian airport.

Hunter Carter, a prominent same-sex marriage advocate in Latin America who said American Airlines personnel at the airport in the Colombian city of Medellín separated him and his husband, César Zapata, as they tried to check into their Miami-bound flight on Jan. 18, received an e-mail from Alec Bramlett, senior litigation attorney for the airline, on Wednesday afternoon.

“TSA has communicated to our Corporate Security folks that they are working on a technical change to its directive, and that pending that change, we can immediately begin screening same-sex spouses together,” wrote Bramlett in the e-mail the Blade obtained from Carter. “We are working on communicating this change in procedures to our stations ASAP.”

The gay community in Colombia celebrated a victory on Tuesday, when the First Committee of the Senate approved the first in a series of steps towards legalizing same-sex marriage in the country.

“In this country homosexuals have economic and social security rights, so it is time to advance toward marital rights,” the sponsor of the bill, Senator Armando Benedetti, said according to Colombia Politics.

The Mayor of Colombia’s capital wants residents to come out of the closet. To help fight discrimination against the LGBT community, Bogotá’s Mayor Gustavo Petro launched a week-long celebration entitled “Sexual Diversity and Gender Identity” on Thursday, according to Colombian newspaper El Espectador.

The Mayor’s Office and Bogotá’s District Department of Social Integration (SDIS) kicked-off the week by hosting the event ‘Por una Bogotá sin Closets’ (For a Bogotá without closets) in which officials pledged to promote the rights of the LGBT community.
