Seattle, Washington couple Brittany and Sally Pennington were captured on camera during their wedding last Sunday when the Grammys put on a mass ceremony during a performance of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis‘s “Same Love.” The track was up for Song of the Year, and had out lesbian vocalist Mary Lambert joined on stage by Queen Latifah and Madonna as is par for the course with the Grammys.  Brittany said she saw a casting call for the event on Craigslist, which said it was “looking for couples who wanted to get married at a huge event.”

“I sent in our info and they called us right away,” Brittany said. “That’s when we found out it was at the Grammys but they didn’t tell us anything else. It wasn’t until the day before the Grammys that we found out it was to ‘Same Love’ by Macklemore and that Queen Latifah and Madonna were involved also.”

This year’s Grammy Awards came to a monumental close when Macklemore and Ryan Lewis performed equality anthem “Same Love” before thirty-three couples were married in a mass wedding ceremony— including gay, straight, and transgender individuals—officiated by Queen Latifah. Macklemore started things off by taking the stage with Lewis, Trombone Shorty, and songstress Mary Lambert, who contributes the female vocal melody to the hit.

After Queen Latifah officiated, Madonna then joined those on stage to sing some of her 1986 hit “Open Your Heart.” Aside from the memorable performance, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis had an incredible night, taking home four Grammy awards.

Madonna’s newly confirmed performance at Sunday’s Grammy Awards will find the singer teaming with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on the duo’s 2012 anthem “Same Love,” sources reportedly tell Us Weekly.

Word spread last weekend that Madonna would likely provide supporting vocals during a performance of one of the nominated songs, and now it appears she’ll take her same-sex activism to the Grammy stage. Us Weekly does not address how Madonna’s portion of the performance will complement that of featured artist Mary Lambert, who tweeted on Friday that she was in rehearsals for the telecast.

After being targeted herself by Russian law, Madonna has joined the Human Rights Campaign’s “Love Conquers Hate” initiative to stop the LBGT community from being targeted in Russia. Lady Gaga is also under fire, as a local resident claimed her 13-year-old daughter was subjected to “an imitation of sexual intercourse between women and advocacy of alcohol consumption,” during her St. Petersburg show last December.

“Even with the 2014 Sochi Olympics just a few months away, fair-minded Russians are facing fines, harassment and violence at the hand of thugs,” Madonna wrote on the Human Rights Campaign’s website. “At this dangerous moment in Russian history, we, as advocates, have a responsibility to speak up and take our hopeful message global. Make no mistake about it: the goal of these hateful laws is to leave LGBT Russians feeling isolated. Worthless. Completely alone.”

Tegan and Sara may be favorites of Taylor Swift, but the Canadian duo recently voiced their love for an entirely different pop star. The “Closer” singers are featured in this week’s issue of NME, and were asked to offer up an opinion on Miley Cyrus (because no musician in 2013 can go one interview without being asked about Cyrus).

“She’s this generation’s Madonna,” Sara Quin told the publication. “A hugely talented pop star with agency over her body and sexuality, which terrifies people.”

A lawsuit brought against pop mega star Madonna for her allegedly promoting homosexuality during a Russian concert has been laughed out of court.

Claimants, who wanted $10.7 million in compensation, alleged that at Madonna’s August 9 concert, Madonna knowingly flouted St. Petersburg’s ban on promoting homosexuality by rallying the crowd to stand strong with Russia’s gay citizens.

Pop megastar Madonna has been summoned to appear before a Russian court to face charges brought by anti-gay campaigners that she knowingly flouted St. Petersburg’s ban on gay propaganda and that, in so doing, injured and offended them.

According to reports, anti-gay campaigners in Russia have managed to obtain Madonna’s New York address and have issued her a summons to face charges that she, during an August concert in St. Petersburg, knowingly flouted the region’s ban on the promotion of homosexuality to minors. They are seeking as much as $10.5 million in damages.

Russian anti-gay campaigners who attended a recent Madonna concert in St Petersburg are suing the star for $10.5million for her gay rights advocacy, saying they were personally offended by her rallying against St Petersburg’s “homosexual propaganda” ban.

They also muse that, just “maybe,” her stand for LGBT rights could have turned some of the young people at her concert gay.

Lady Gaga is making no apologies for being “Born This Way.” The undisputed queen of the little monsters paused during a concert in New Zealand last Thursday night to speak to unnamed detractors who “make a mockery of” her work and though she didn’t explicitly call out the Material Girl by name, her comments didn’t appear to leave any doubt that she was addressing Madonna.

“That doesn’t make me feel good at all,” Gaga said of tearing others down. “That just makes me feel like I’m not a good human being…I don’t even want to fight back because it’s more important to me to keep writing music. Because that’s really all I care about, is the music…things are really different than they were 25 years ago, and that’s what makes ‘Born This Way’ so relevant for me. We’re socially in a different place and it’s okay; we don’t have to all slice and hate each other anymore.”

“Things are really different than they were 25 years ago”? Ouch!

Gaga’s commentary comes in the aftermath of Madonna’s targeted cover of “Born This Way,” which she debuted during the first concert of her “MDNA Tour” and features a mash up of Gaga’s tune with her own “Express Yourself.” The 1989 Madonna track is believed by many, including the 53-year-old Material Girl herself, to have informed “Born This Way.”
