Adding to the already impressive music lineup for the 28th annual Dinah Shore Weekend, Club Skirts announces a performance from acclaimed pop-rock artist Stephanie Rice, best known for her appearance on season 12 of NBC’s The Voice.

Stephanie Rice uses her music to share her powerful story of resilience through emotional, compelling performances. After coming out to her parents ten years ago, Rice found herself estranged, completely alone and unwanted. She bounced back, moved to Houston from her hometown of Texarkana, graduated with a degree in Biology at the University of Houston, and entered the professional medical field where she conducted groundbreaking research involving HIV.

Throughout Stephanie’s time as a scientist, she continued aspiring to share through songs her observation of life, love and pain. In 2016, she decided to commit to music full time, completing her debut album, Dear Misery with a band she formed and fronts, Colonial Blue. The album received regional praise, including being named one of the top 12 best albums by the Houston Chronicle.

After making it to the top 11 finalists of The Voice, Stephanie left the show empowered with validation and support from fans around the world, including her coach and mentor, Alicia Keys, who called Rice “the purest artist on this show… you are a producer, you are a musician, you play multiple instruments, you are a writer, you are exactly what an artist is supposed to be.”

Stephanie Rice will be performing Thursday, March 29 at Zelda’s Nightclub for the Official Dinah Opening Party.

Here’s a recap of The Dinah lineup:

JESSIE REYEZ

Jessie Reyez has been taking the music industry by storm since she first released her debut EP Kiddo, which was famously championed by Sir Elton John on Beats 1 Radio. The Colombian-Canadian singer/songwriter has since been on an unstoppable meteoric rise. She played the Governor’s Ball, her first New York festival and stunned audiences with a breathtaking performance of her heartbreak anthem “Figures” at the 2017 BET Awards. She appeared on Calvin Harris’ “Hard to Love”, and wrapped up a U.S. tour, which culminated back home in Toronto with a sold-out show at the Mod Club. The burgeoning singer accomplished another milestone when she made her late-night talk show debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last summer. Today, her star is still rising as she is sitting with a record deal from Island Records.

A pioneer in the fight against sexual harassment, Reyez made a lot of noise when she released the eye-opening song “Gatekeeper” and companion short film of the same title: a gut-wrenching, dark and uncomfortable 12 minute piece she co-wrote with director Peter Huang, narrates, and acts in. Released last April, the song has become newly resonant, standing as a precursor of the #Metoo movement. Reyez herself embodies the meaning of “living on your own terms” and “taking charge” and continues to blaze an inspiring trail for many young aspiring female artists to follow.

Jessie Reyez performs at the Sunday night Closing Party at Zelda’s Nightclub.

SNOW THA PRODUCT

Snow Tha Product, an MTV VMA award winning Latina lyricist and emcee with hip-hop, pop and R&B sensibilities, is exactly the rapper we need right now. The SoCal native, who records in both English and Spanish, has been involved in some pretty high-profile music collaborations, working with the likes of Ty Dolla $ign and Lin-Manuel Miranda on “Immigrants (We Get the Job Done)” from the Hamilton Mixtape.

A well known artist and influencer in the social media world, the Atlantic Records artist has a legion of loyal fans awaiting her new releases. When not working on music, she’s building up her acting credits, which includes a recurring role on USA Network’s “Queen of the South” as gang leader Lil’ Traviesa. She has been recognized and respected throughout the hip-hop industry for carving her own lane. Her reputation as a spitfire performer has her nonstop energy shows selling out from the West to East Coast.

Snow Tha Product hopes to one day become a role model for future generations and a voice for all Latinos. Making a whole lot of noise, Snow Tha Product is commanding the spotlight, and has everyone eagerly waiting to see what’s next at The Dinah.

Catch Snow Tha Product headlining The Dinah’s TGIDF Pool Party, March 30 at the Hilton Main Pool.

RAPSODY

Hailed as one of the most acclaimed MCs in American hip-hop today, 2018 double Grammy Nominee, Rapsody, is confirmed to take center stage at Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend.

The Snow Hill, NC native created more than a massive buzz at the close of 2017 with the release of her lyrically poetic solo album dubbed Lalia’s Wisdom. The smoldering album, in which she expertly spins out stories of love, resilience and female empowerment, features an impressive list of monster names including rap heavyweight Kendrick Lamar.

From her humble beginnings as part of a rap collective dubbed Kooley High to being discovered by award-winning producer Patrick “9th Wonder” Douthit in 2008, to trading verses with Kendrick Lamar on his Grammy-nominated album To Pimp a Butterfly, to Grammy Award nominations for her solo release, Rapsody’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary.

Joining a small exclusive group of artists, she had the privilege to be invited at the White House by former President Barack Obama and Herbie Hancock to perform at the International Jazz Fest.

“I want to be an artist that shows women that they do have a choice to be respected off their talent alone and not because of…looks or gender. The only thing that matters is that you are dope,” says the incredibly talented trailblazing artist.

She joins The Dinah 2018 line up as the perfect example of a powerful woman defining her career her way, on her terms.

Catch Rapsody at The Dinah’s April 1, Sunday Funday Pool Party, held at The Hilton Hotel in downtown Palm Springs.

BROOKE CANDYBrooke Candy

American rapper/vocalist/internet personality Brooke Candy grew up in the greater Los Angeles area, where she developed an early love of fashion and music. Candy whizzed into Internet fame with a raw, no-nonsense delivery, a penchant for dirty talk, and a string of outlandishly stylized, provocative music videos. She is notoriously known for her cameo appearance in Grimes’ hit single “Genesis,” which gained viral success, quickly racking up millions of views, and gained her a cult following online.

Inspired in part by 90’s rapper Lil’ Kim, Candy’s own musical career stands out with her uniquely blunt, irreverent sound and hyper-sexual, highly explicit songs presented in colorful videos. The provocative artist made a couple of guest appearances on Charlie XCX’s tracks including the singles “Cloud Aura” and “I Got It” featuring Cupcakke and Pablo Vittar.

She released her own Opulence EP in 2014. Throughout 2016 and 2017, she released a string of singles including pop hit “Living Out Loud” featuring mentor Sia, which went to #4 on the dance charts following a remix package.

The self-identified queer artist separated with her record label Sony RCA in 2017 in hopes of getting back to her punk inspired roots. Brooke has been hard at work shaping her solo career and showcasing her smooth flow and raunchy realness. Her next single is a collaboration with Lizzo, which will be followed by her second EP Who Cares, produced by MNDR, to be released in this spring on Wondersound Records.

Artists like Brooke Candy are now more than ever needed. She’s effervescent, charismatic and fearless and the freedom and enthusiasm she expresses is beyond contagious… she leaves you wanting more; it’s electrifying and undeniably best experienced live!

Brooke Candy will headline The Dinah’s Saturday Wet & Wild Pool Party at The Hilton Hotel in downtown Palm Springs.

MADAME GANDHI

Kiran Gandhi, known by her stage name as Madame Gandhi, is the voice of a new generation. “I want music to make feminism culturally relevant. I want my music to make gender equality culturally even more relevant,” says the young artist. A champion of sisterhood and female empowerment, Madame Gandhi practices what she preaches.

The musician and activist based in LA gained international recognition as the iconic free-bleeding runner at the 2015 London Marathon. Her choice caused a media frenzy, sparking a global viral conversation about how we treat menstruation in various cultures, combating period stigma around the world.

Gandhi grew up between New York City and Bombay, India, playing drums and attending The Chapin School. She currently holds degrees from Georgetown (Math, Political Science, Women’s Studies) and an MBA from Harvard Business School. While attending Georgetown, she also immersed herself in the vibrant DC music scene, once playing Bonnaroo as the drummer for the famed Thievery Corporation. Between 2011 and 2013, she worked at Interscope Records as their first ever digital analyst, studying patterns in Spotify and YouTube consumption behavior. In 2013, Gandhi linked up with Grammy-nominated artist M.I.A. and began touring internationally with her as her drummer.

In 2017, she released her solo EP Voices, which explores feminist ideals through spoken word, rap and electronica. Taking the world by storm, Madame Gandhi is on a meteoric rise. She recently opened for Ani DiFranco on her Rise Up tour, her SXSW performance was named one of SPIN Magazine’s favorite of the entire event, and she recently performed on an episode of Amazon’s new series “I Love Dick.”

She now continues to travel to perform and speak about modern gender equality, and is also working on her full-length album.

Madame Gandhi headlines The Dinah’s Friday night Pink Party at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

ARIANA AND THE ROSE

Ariana and the Rose writes, sings, and performs a coming-of-age story, one that resonates with current music lovers who seek communities where they can totally be themselves. Think a cosmic fusion of Kate Bush and Robyn: strong women of synth-pop and alternative rock, grandiose but grounded. Her honest synth driven songs have accumulated over 3.5 million streams and her vivid and experiential music videos have amassed over 2 million views.

Ariana’s breakthrough EP Retrograde features singles “Supercool” and “How Does That Make You Feel,” two synth anthems, celebrating the strength and duality of the female spirit, both tracks gaining notoriety and praise from outlets such as Vogue and Nylon. Ariana’s songwriting is also showcased on “Love You Lately” with electro-R&B duo RKCB. The heartbreak song has been supported by the likes of Noisey, applauding Ariana’s ability to “capture the sting of relationship disintegration.”

Ariana kicks off 2018 featuring on Feenixpawl & Harley Knox single “Bones” that will no doubt stake its claim as one of 2018’s most infectious pop-dance crossover anthems. While touring across the UK and the US supporting and sharing stages with artists such as Cyndi Lauper, Peaches, Jack Garratt, and Allie X, and performing at festivals including The Great Escape and SXSW, Ariana has been working on music and a show that truly represents herself.

Her unique brand of performance that transcends the traditional boundaries of a concert is truly showcased in Ariana and the Rose’s immersive live music party ‘’light + space,’’ a galactic multi-sensory disco. Nylon Mag captured Ariana’s galactic grandiosity when they said, “Pop culture craved a technicolored synth pop powerhouse in the making, and Ariana and the Rose dropped in from her special place in the cosmos to quench it.” Her purpose is clear: step into her starry universe, and leave your inhibitions at the door.

Ariana and the Rose perform Saturday’s Wet & Wild pool party at the Hilton Main Pool.

PALM SPRINGS, CA – Rising star Jessie Reyez has just been added to the 2018 Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend blockbuster entertainment line up.

Commemorating 28 years as the longest running and largest lesbian event in the world, The Dinah is once again showcasing the female hitmakers of tomorrow.

One of the fastest rising artists to keep your eyes on in 2018, Jessie Reyez has been taking the music industry by storm since she first released her debut EP “Kiddo”, which was famously championed by Sir Elton John on Beats 1 radio.

Inspired by some of her most emotional experiences, the album garnered more than 20 million streams and earned itself a lot of attention from multiple labels.

The Colombian-Canadian singer/songwriter has since been on an unstoppable meteoric rise. She played the Governor’s Ball, her first New York festival and stunned audiences with a breathtaking performance of her heartbreak anthem “Figures” at the 2017 BET Awards. She appeared on Calvin Harris’ “Hard to Love” off Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1., and wrapped up a U.S. tour, which culminated back home in Toronto with a sold-out show at the Mod Club.

The burgeoning singer accomplished another milestone when she made her late-night talk show debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last summer.

Today, her star is only rising. Yet the road to success has not been an easy one for this soul busting, raspy voice, emerging talent. Early on, refusing to compromise her integrity and to give up her dreams, Reyez championed her music career by staying true to her form. A pioneer in the fight against sexual harassment, she bravely stood up against industry sexism and is now sitting with a record deal with Island Records.

“With the addition of Jessie Reyez we have one of the most exciting and stellar Female line up in Dinah history,” says Mariah Hanson, founder and producer of The Dinah. “She is one of music industry’s most exciting emerging artist and a perfect example of a trailblazer in the #Metoo Movement. We couldn’t be more proud to showcase her at an event like The Dinah that epitomizes the definition of Women Empowerment.”

Reyez made a lot of noise when she released the eye-opening song “Gatekeeper” and companion short film of the same title – a gut-wrenching, dark and uncomfortable 12 minutes short film she co-wrote with director Peter Huang, narrates and acts in.

Released last April, the song has become newly resonant standing as a precursor of the #Metoo movement. Reyez herself embodies the meaning of “living on your own terms” and “taking charge”; and continues to blaze an inspiring trail for many young aspiring female artists to follow.

Since the release of her excellent debut EP Kiddo last year Reyez has been focused on bringing her music and message to life.

Slated to headline “The Dinah Comedy Night” on Saturday, March 31 at 8:00pm at The Palm Springs Convention Center in Palm Springs, CA, these two veteran comedians will pull no punches, offering an exceptional night of comedy galore.

In an industry that has for years radically been dominated by males, female comics have been progressively taking over the nation’s comedy clubs, bringing their own unique repartee, original voice and individual talent.

Who runs the world?

Westenhoefer and Goldberg have successfully been holding their own in this boy’s club for a long time, and keep pushing the boundaries to carve out a unique voice for women in comedy.
Westenhoefer’s groundbreaking 25-year career of stereotype-shattering and brutally honest comedy includes being one of the first openly lesbian comedians on “Late Night with David Letterman” and the first openly lesbian comedian to have an HBO special. She’s appeared on Bravo, Logo and GSN and has had live performances across the US.

The kid from Amish Country who began her comedy career on a dare is celebrating a quarter century of out, open, no-holds-barred comedy and of course promises to not play it safe at the Dinah.

As seen on TBS, ABC, and Last Comic Standing, veteran comedian Dana Goldberg is a force of nature on stage. With performances at The Comedy Festival produced by TBS and HBO, and the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland; her quick wit and playful stage presence have her earning loyal fans across the country and abroad.

Voted one of the “Top Five Funniest Lesbians In America,” Curve magazine raves, “Goldberg is one of the brightest lights in a stellar comedy landscape.” Advocate.com named Goldberg one of the top three LGBT comedians in the nation.
Comedy used to be a boys’ club, but who’s getting the last laugh now?

“At the Dinah, we are committed to openly celebrating our lives and what’s a good celebration without the sound of laughter. I couldn’t be more pleased to announce this stellar line up of two amazing and groundbreaking comedians who always hit it out of The Dinah park We moved comedy to Saturday so we are expecting a sold-out show this year, “says Mariah Hanson, founder and producer of The Dinah.

Celebrating its 28th Anniversary, Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend, is, once again, upping the volume on your laughter, bringing together two of the hottest lesbian comics on the circuit for an exceptional comedy night that is MUST SEE COMEDY!

DJ Samantha Ronson spins DinahPALM SPRINGS, CA — Celebrity DJ Samantha Ronson is about to tear the decks at the biggest lesbian event in the planet of its kind: The Dinah.

She’s selling out clubs around the world and has become celebrities’ “it” girl when it comes to putting the needle on the hottest records and keeping the beat going at their private parties. Samantha Ronson is one female DJ who can seriously throw it down.

Mariah Hanson, founder and producer of Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend, has confirmed that The Dinah 2016 (March 30 – April 3) will feature one of the most respected and best-known DJs in the lesbian community as Samantha Ronson guest-deejays the event.

“Samantha Ronson is one of the premiere celebrity DJ’s, but she’s also the real deal. Our crowd is going to be blown away at her talent, energy and presence. I’ve wanted to book her for years so for me, it’s an extra bonus that I am finally able to headline her at The Dinah,” comments Hanson.

Making a music career as a professional DJ was never farfetched for the London native.

Samantha Ronson comes from a significant artistic lineage. Her stepdad is Mick Jones, the legendary guitarist of the iconic rock band Foreigner; her brother, Mark Ronson, is a Grammy Award-winning producer famously credited with making Amy Winehouse a household name; and her sister is a famous fashion designer.

With plenty of talent to go around in her family, the Venice-based artist holds her own DJing the biggest parties and clubs all around the world. Her electrifying live set will leave you wanting more as she pushes her sound, along with the crowd to the limit.

Ask the likes of Stevie Wonder, Ellen DeGeneres, Nicole Richie, Natalie Portman, Jay-Z, and Lionel Richie, to name a few, who solicited Ronson’s extraordinary DJ chops.

What an accomplishment for someone who fell into DJing by chance. With her finger on the pulse of today’s hottest tracts, she’s quickly risen through the ranks in this heavily male-dominated industry, and carries now a professional dossier that certifiably rivals some of her better-known male DJ counterparts.

Ronson has spun live for MTV’s New Year’s Eve show from the network’s studios in Times Square, as well as at the Super Bowl, Pan American Games, Sundance, Cannes Film Festival, the VMA’s and AMA’s (among others) and has helped push the music scene forward, perpetuating the growing movement of women behind the decks.

Next to DJing, Ronson also enjoys a passion for singing. In 2003, she became the first rock act to be signed to rapper Jay-Z’s label, Roc-A-Fella Records. She released a handful of songs with Roc-A-Fella — one of which was featured in the cult-classic film “Mean Girls.”

Whether it is DJing or dabbling in other creative fields, Ronson hardly ever stops. Today she continues to work her magic on the dancefloor and to bring something different to the turntables.

Don’t miss her live Dinah DJ set, she’ll bring a whole new ballgame to the table.

Elle King Low Res

Singer and Grammy nominated artist, Elle King

Singer Elle King has been burning up the charts with her catchy single, “Ex’s and Oh’s.” The song is about sleeping with a ton of men and satisfying all of them so much that they keep coming back for more. But! It’s still catchy. Maybe King will switch up the pronouns when she plays to a crowd of queer women at 2016’s Dinah Shore Weekend in Palm Springs. The Dinah is taking place March 30-April 3, 2016. Tickets for the event are on sale now and they are slowly making their musical line-up public. Pop royalty such as Katy Perry and Lady Gaga have performed at the lady love fest in the past and the word on the street is that the 2016 line-up is going to be spectacular.

Does King look familiar? She should, her father is comedian Rob Schneider. Also, does anybody else remember the show “Exes and Ohs,” the short lived but much loved sitcom about a bunch of lesbians? I miss that one. “Ex’s and Oh’s” the song is definitely not about lesbians. Anywho, watch the video below!

The Dinah 2015PALM SPRINGS, California — It’s a wrap. The Dinah officially turned 25.

Yet more than having a big birthday and marking another one for the books, The Dinah 2015 cemented its place in the annals of LGBT history.

The vision that Mariah Hanson imagined a quarter century ago far surpassed her expectations. For little did she know that her Dinah would become her enduring legacy to both the city of Palm Springs and the entire LGBT community.

Today The Dinah stands tall and proud as not just the biggest lesbian event in the planet of its kind, but as well as the world’s single most successful lesbian music and entertainment mega-event.

This is why thousands of women from all over the world gathered in Palm Springs over this Easter weekend to come celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the iconic Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend.

And celebrate, they did! The Dinah 2015 was beyond epic and undoubtedly filled with memorable events and magical moments all dedicated to honor the real Dinah … Mariah.

Pop superstar Meghan Trainor who headlined the Black Party on Saturday was certainly not just all about The Dinah but very much all about that Mariah, too.

“She is the reason you are all here having the time of your life,” declared Trainor as she graciously invited Hanson to join her on stage to crown her queen in front of a screaming sold-out crowd. Lips were moving, booties were shaking and fingers were snapping pictures away as the pop sensation took a selfie before shimmying on stage with the newly appointed royal.

The symbolic crowning came on the heels of a series of recognition prizes and awards by city officials and LGBT organizations for her commitment to her craft – including the prestigious Legacy Award bestowed upon her by the NCLR along side Lilly Tomlin a short few hours before Trainor’s homage.

Continuing to cement its reputation as an industry star-maker, this year’s Dinah delivered a mind-blowing slate of performers.

From award-winning Christina Perri to cutting-edge artists Bebe Rexha, Olivia Sommerlyn, Holy Child; to old-school disco icons Crystal Waters and Royce Rose, these series of high-energy concerts were all phenomenally spectacular leaving Dinah audiences in complete awe.

Once again Hanson raised her own bar with a stellar lineup that included a few awesome surprises among which was new “it” girl Ivy Levan.

The latest in a series of big names to perform at The Dinah, Ivy Levan not only drew massive crowds but also enjoyed her Dinah experience so much that, like rap artist Eve last year, she joined the crowd on the dance floor after her electrifying show.

There is indeed something liberating about the Dinah that is extremely infectious and contagious and rises up from the crowd to the performers onstage who just can get enough.

“I’m having so much fun with you guys,” exclaimed Meghan Trainor, “Love who you love and forget the rest.”

Sure, The Dinah is known for its monumental pool parties, stunning women, hottest DJs & Dancers, not to mention celebrity sightings and terrific concerts by international Top 10 Billboard hitmakers. But there’s more to the event than meets the eyes. The real gem to be found at the Dinah are the customers who travel from all over the world to take over Palm Springs and impart a sense of belonging, and complete normalcy.

The Dinah is a freeing and life changing experience for all these lesbians.

It is difficult for some of us to fathom the idea that our lifestyle is not the same for a majority of others, but rather the exception. But once a year The Dinah makes that dream come true.

“It’s a beautiful thing when members of a minority suddenly are not in the minority anymore,” wrote Lane Moore for Cosmo.com after attending this year her first Dinah ever.

What the Dinah truly offers is a glimpse of how perfect the world would be if we could all be free to be who we truly are!

All in all, the 25th Anniversary of Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend will be remembered as the most phenomenal Dinah to date.

We all came out of it profoundly moved, deeply touched, completely transformed and empowered

We can hear Christina Perri’s “Burning Gold” lyrics echoing in all of our hearts:

“I’ve had enough, I’m standing up, I need, I need a change.”

Is it Dinah 2016 yet?

“I’ve had enough, I’m standing up, I need, I need a change.”

Palm Springs, California — Pop music’s queen of romance, Christina Perri is slated to headline Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend’s 25th Anniversary (April 1-5, 2015).

Perri, the singer/songwriter behind “Jar of Hearts” and “A Thousand Years,” is the latest major recording artist to proudly add Palm Springs’ iconic Dinah Shore Weekend to her touring resume.

She will deliver an exclusive live concert just before the “White Party”at the Palm Springs Convention Center on Friday, April 3, 2015.

“Christina Perri’s love song, ‘A Thousand Years,’ is one of the great ballads of this decade and a song that our community has embraced. She also happens to be incredible in concert so our guests are in for a full-blown treat. Her fan base is broad and she is one of our more established artists so we are expecting record attendance. Her concert is followed up with The White Party, our signature Friday night event, so it’s going to be an action packed night,” says Mariah Hanson, founder and producer of Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend.

The 28 year-old Philadelphia native’s career has been on a meteoric path since her defiant breakup anthem called “Jar of Hearts” was used on Fox’s TV show: “So You Think You Can Dance.” The breakout single was success on a stratospheric scale, instantly catapulting Christina Perri into the public eye and earning her the coveted iTunes’ “Breakthrough Pop Artist of 2011” title.

More than 100,000 fans downloaded the pop ballad allowing Perri, then manager at a Beverly Hills cafe, to not only crack the Billboard Top 40 two weeks after debuting the song on the show, but also snatch a deal with Atlantic Records.

Perri followed with the four-time platinum single “A Thousand Years,” written and recorded for the film, “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn,” which famously zoomed into orbit selling over 4 million copies in the United Sates. Perri then released her first album, produced by Grammy-winning producer Joe Chiccarelli (The White Stripes, My Morning Jacket), which entered the Billboard 200 among the top five upon its initial release.

Now riding a wave of success since “Jar of Hearts,” Perri is on an international tour in support of her commercially successful sophomore album “Head or Heart,” a collection of cathartic songs and powerhouse vocals released in the spring of 2014, led by the album’s buoyant first single “Human.”

Christina Perri recorded with Butch Walker, John Hill and Martin Johnson, toured with Demi Lovato on her Demi World Tour, performed at the Los Angeles’ iconic Hollywood Bowl with Jason Mraz and will now perform for a sold out crowd at The Dinah — the largest lesbian event in the world — in celebration of the event’s epic 25th anniversary.

The Dinah 2015’s headliners are Christina Perri and Meghan Trainor. Other live performances confirmed to date include pop music’s new “it” girls Bebe Rexha and Ivy Levan. Stay tuned for more talent announcements. Learn more at TheDinah.com.
