Tickets are now available for 2014′s Out at Wrigley, the largest annual LGBT sporting event in the country. This year’s game is set for Saturday, July 12, when the Chicago Cubs take on the Atlanta Braves in their now-100-year-old ballpark.

Last year’s Out at Wrigley was paired with the induction ceremony for the latest project of MTM Chicago’s Bill Gubrud, the driving force behind Out at Wrigley, and Jackie Weinberg of Supergurl Images: The National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame (NGLSHOF). The new organization, which seeks to recognize and preserve the history of individuals and organizations whose achievements have advanced sports and athletics for the LGBT community while also providing outreach and education to the sporting world to help make it a more welcoming and safe space for LGBT youth, inducted 26 members into its inaugural class in August 2013.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released a new YouTube video designed to provide useful tax tips to married same-sex couples. While it may look like it’s something the 80s left behind and doesn’t want back, could this new tool actually be useful?

According to the news release we received from the White House Office of Communications, the video is the latest addition to an online library featuring short IRS instructional videos covering more than 100 topics ranging from tips for victims of identity theft to taking advantage of the new simplified home office deduction. These videos have been viewed more than seven million times.

Ever since she was a little girl, “Glee’s” Lea Michele has been involved with the LGBT community. Growing up in New York, Michele started working for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS as a child.

“I’ve always been in theater, and so the gay community — that was my world,” she said. “That’s where I come from, and so it just feels like part of who I am. To be where I am right now, and to still have that support and to still have that safety net, it really just means a lot to me.”

“Happy Endings” star Elisha Cuthbert has been cast as a pregnant lesbian named Lizzy in the new NBC comedy “One Big Happy,” The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.

The show will focus on Lizzy who has just gotten pregnant through artificial insemination with her best friend’s sperm. Luke (Nick Zano from “2 Broke Girls”), meanwhile, has just impulsively married the love of his life.

Social Outreach Seattle is starting the 2014 round of community forums off with “Lesbian Life Forum” combined with the “Body Diversity Photo Project” on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at City Hall (Bertha Knight Landes Room, 600 4th Ave, Seattle, WA 98104).

The focus of this forum will be discussions about living life in work, social, and business as it pertains to lesbians in the Seattle community. Panelists include: Seattle City Councilmember Sally Clark, Judge Anne Levinson (Ret.), Aretha Alexander (City of Seattle Parks Department), Angela Hughes (Director – Seattle, Sistah Sinema), Fran Dunaway (Co-Founder, TomboyX), and Sarah Toce (Publisher, The Seattle Lesbian).

Expert and novice photographers were invited to submit their favorite lesbian-related photos for consideration. All pieces will be unveiled at the event at City Hall.

Five years into her marriage and Ellen DeGeneres is more in love with her wife Portia de Rossi than ever.

“The truth is, and this is corny, I fall more in love with Portia all the time. I really do. She surprises me all the time,” she said in the latest issue of People magazine. “It’s what anyone experiences when you find that person that gets you, wants to take care of you, wants the best for you. We’re really lucky because we know how rare it is.”

Recently the tabloids reported the two were struggling in their relationship and de Rossi had even taken off her ring. The tabloids had a photo of Portia not wearing her wedding ring. “She goes, ‘I didn’t wear it because when I ride horses and I’m holding the reins, it gives me a blister!'” DeGeneres said.

Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum said Thursday she will no longer defend Oregon’s state ban on marriage for same-sex couples. Rosenblum said that the state will continue to enforce the ban unless it’s overturned by a court, but that the law “cannot withstand a federal constitutional challenge under any standard of review.”

Rosenblum wrote in the filing: “State defendants admit that performing same-sex marriages in Oregon would have no adverse effect on existing marriages, and that sexual orientation does not determine an individual’s capacity to establish a loving and enduring relationship.”

In the first study to look at the consequences of anti-gay prejudice for mortality, researchers at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health found that lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) individuals who lived in communities with high levels of anti-gay prejudice have a shorter life expectancy of 12 years on average compared with their peers in the least prejudiced communities.

“The results of this study suggest a broadening of the consequences of prejudice to include premature death,” noted the study’s lead author, Mark Hatzenbuehler, PhD, assistant professor of Sociomedical Sciences.
