First lady Michelle Obama’s speech Tuesday evening at a private Democratic National Committee fundraiser was interrupted by a protester, who demanded equality for gays and lesbians.

About 12 minutes into Obama’s 20-minute speech, a woman standing at the front of the crowd began yelling for an executive order on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights.

The Maryland Marriage Alliance is getting desperate. When it’s not busy hosting events where speakers freely postulate gays are worthy of death, they’re running ads lying that Michelle Obama supports their anti-gay agenda “whether she realizes it or not” — and they’ve edited down Michelle’s DNC speech to make sure it sounds that way.

In a recent advertisement, the Maryland Marriage Alliance willfully clips Michelle Obama’s words to make it appear that she, unknowingly, agrees with their assertion that marriage equality legislation that will be on the ballot as Question 6 will somehow damage heterosexual parenting if voters don’t reject the new law.

First lady Michelle Obama encouraged LGBT supporters on Wednesday to do all they can — even packing up to travel to battleground states — to get friends to go to the polls on Election Day to help her husband in the increasingly tight race for the White House.

Introducing Michelle Obama was Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin, who praised Michelle Obama for ”her clear and much-needed message to policymakers and youth alike that bullying is not something that we have to accept in this country.”

Jeremy Hooper, editor of the gay blog “Good as You,” was among those in attendance at the luncheon and told the Washington Blade afterward he was struck by four words Michelle Obama said after talking about her husband’s LGBT accomplishments and commitment to equality: “And he always will.”

Michelle Obama will return to Chicago next Tuesday for a pair of campaign fundraisers. “Glee’s” Jane Lynch will be joining the first lady at one of the appearances. The lunch with the first lady and Lynch will be held at 11 a.m. at Fulton’s on the River, 315 N. La Salle St. Tickets start at $250.

The events benefit the president’s re-election campaign, the Democratic National Committee and several Democratic state parties.

Lynch has been a vocal Obama supporter and narrated a campaign video in which the president expressed support for LGBT rights.
