It has been announced that lesbian broadcaster Clare Balding will be heading the coverage of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia for the British Broadcasting Company (BBC).

Her résumé already includes coverage of not only the Summer Olympics, but the Paralympics in London; however, the fact that a lesbian has been selected to for the job is certain to be seen as a statement, especially after American President Barack Obama selected multiple high-profile gay athletes for the US delegation to the Games.

While less reliable than your GPS, gaydar is the sixth sense that no lesbian wants to be without. Dutch researchers revealed results of a study that shows gays are generally more discerning and detail-oriented and, as a result, more likely to pick up on the subtle cues that allow us to find each other in a crowd. If only there was an app for that! Oh, wait, there is, it’s called Grindr.

The BBC is giving us “Lip Service” and we’re happy about it
Twitter was abuzz this week as series 2 as the Brits call it (season 2 here in the States) of the lesbian television drama “Lip Service” prepared to come to a close with the sixth and final episode airing May 25. No doubt the chatter will continue as fans await word regarding a decision on series 3.
